Teatime Talk: Cholera at Grangegorman 1832

14 Henrietta Street presents Teatime Talks a series of talks inspired by the history and people of 14 Henrietta Street. By listening and engaging with visitors, historians, experts, local people, former tenement residents and their families, we continue to uncover, record and respond to the 300 year story of 14 Henrietta Street.

In 1832 cholera swept through Ireland, killing thousands in its wake. Each parish was asked to provide a doctor who could provide immediate medical attention to the sick. For the people living on Henrietta Street, they would have gone straight to Grangegorman, Dublin’s cholera hospital and for some, their final resting place. Join historian Dr Allison Galbari for a talk about the cholera epidemic of 1832 and the role Grangegorman played in people’s recovery and deaths.

When: 6 pm, Thursday 12 November
