Children’s History Summer Camp at 14 Henrietta Street

News

Published 18 April 2025

Join us at 14 Henrietta Street for a two-day summer camp, exploring the history of the building through games and crafts.

Learn about the different chapters of the house’s history from Georgian beginnings to tenement times, create your own artworks inspired by some of the subjects, and enjoy fun interactive games in the historic setting of 14 Henrietta Street.

This camp is for children aged 9 to 12.

The camp is facilitated by the Historian In Residence For Children, Dervilia Roche who says:

"I can’t wait for our Children's History Summer Camp at 14 Henrietta Street. We'll be spending two days exploring the history of the building, going on a guided tour, playing games in the garden and creating artworks.

Children will have the chance to learn how to play Piggy Beds and to tell us about the kinds of games they play nowadays. They’ll learn about elaborate Georgian clothes and food, and create their own designs based on Georgian Dublin.

Of all the children's events we run here through the year, this is the highlight for me, because it's a great way for children to be really immersed in the history of the building while having fun. This summer camp is always a very energetic two days, when we want the children to feel at home here and remind them that it’s their building too.

There'll be lots of opportunities to make friends with other history fans and some of our previous participants even went on to become penpals!"
