How we tell the story of 14 Henrietta Street

NewsStories

Published 16 February 2026

Making a Museum is a series of videos that take a look at some of the key historical research, conservation and restoration work that went into creating the museum at 14 Henrietta Street.

In this video, Making a Museum: Meet the Authors, we get an insight from the three authors of our trilogy of books about 14 Henrietta Street.

Each book focuses on a significant chapter in the history and evolution of the house, and serves as an extension of our guided tour and the engagement work that runs through the museum.

Follow the link below to watch Donal, Tim and Melanie discuss what they think people most connect with in their books and why they are important in how the museum tells the story of 14 Henrietta Street.

Specially commissioned by the museum, the three books, which can be purchased from our online shop and in person at the museum, are:

14 Henrietta Street: Georgian Beginnings, 1750 - 1800, by Dr Melanie Hayes;
14 Henrietta Street; Grandeur and Decline, 1800 - 1922, by Dr Timothy Murtagh; and
14 Henrietta Street; From Tenement to Suburbia, 1922 - 1979, by Donal Fallon
