Sharing our work at the European Heritage Excellence Day 2026
NewsPublished 02 June 2026

We were delighted to share the work of 14 Henrietta Street at the European Heritage Excellence Day 2026 in Nicosia, Cyprus on 27 May. We presented alongside representatives of the 30 winning projects and heritage champions of the European Heritage Awards / Europa Nostra Awards 2026, hailing from 18 countries across Europe.
The Excellence Day formed part of the European Cultural Heritage Summit 2026, which highlighted the societal, cultural, environmental and civic importance of heritage across Europe.
At the event, our Director of Engagement, Laura Keogh, presented the museum as a model of citizen engagement and urban heritage practice, sharing how 14 Henrietta Street has developed through listening, participation and collaboration.
The presentation reflected the museum’s ongoing work to preserve and share the history and heritage of 14 Henrietta Street from the fabric of the building itself to the voices, memories and lives connected to it.
This European recognition acknowledged the many people who continue to shape 14 Henrietta Street and ensure that the history, memories and experiences connected to the house continue to be discovered and shared.
We also want to take this opportunity to say thank you. Since announcing our win we have been very moved by the number of emails from people who have visited 14 Henrietta Street over the years, extending their congratulations and sharing what the house means to them.
Hearing how much people have valued their time here further fuels our passion for continuing our work of sharing, engaging and discovering the stories of the many lives lived within these walls.
