14 Henrietta Street presents Teatime Talks a series of talks inspired by the history and people of 14 Henrietta Street. By listening and engaging with visitors, historians, experts, local people, former tenement residents and their families, we continue to uncover, record and respond to the 300 year story of 14 Henrietta Street.
In 2024, we appointed two Artists in Residence to develop a creative response to 14 Henrietta Street. In this Teatime Talk, Artist in Residence Orlagh Meegan-Gallagher will talk about her time in 14 Henrietta Street and the creation of a textile art piece inspired by the women who lived in the house over its 300 year history. This journey brings us from the Georgian beginnings of 14 Henrietta Street, to its eventual tenement subdivision.
Orlagh Meegan-Gallagher graduated from NCAD in 1987 and is a member of Visual Artists Ireland. After leaving college she worked in theatre and film for Shepperton Studios, England and The Sydney Opera House, Australia and completed a post graduate in Art Education in 1995 at the University of London.
When: 6 pm Thursday, January 16.
This talk will take place in person on the 1st floor of the Museum and can be accessed via lift. If you have any queries please don’t hesitate to contact us on +353 1 524 0383 or email us at info@14henriettastreet.ie.
