Teatime Talk: Reimagining 14 Henrietta Street Through Irish Lace
NewsTeatime TalksPublished 17 July 2025

14 Henrietta Street presents Teatime Talks, a series of talks inspired by the history and people of 14 Henrietta Street. By listening and engaging with visitors, historians, experts, local people, former tenement residents and their families, we continue to uncover, record and respond to the 300 year story of 14 Henrietta Street.
Join artist and lacemaker Fiona Harrington for a Teatime talk in which she will discuss her work throughout her residency at 14 Henrietta Street. Fiona will talk about how she explored the museum’s collection, from the walls of the house and their layers of history, to the objects on display and the wider collection. During her residency, Fiona had many conversations with the museum staff and tour guides, which heavily influenced her approach. She also discovered comparisons between those that made lace in Ireland and those that lived in tenement Dublin.
When: 6 pm Thursday, 28 August
Fiona Harrington is a visual artist and lacemaker. Using traditional Irish lace techniques, her work explores memory, loss and cultural identity. She is interested in preserving this practice, which was so deeply embedded into social, political and cultural life in Ireland, by repositioning lace within contemporary art and design.
This talk will take place in person on the 1st floor of the Museum and can be accessed via lift. The talk will run for 60 minutes. Tea and coffee will be served from 5.40 pm to 6 pm. Please note that drinks cannot be brought into the talk. This is to prevent any damage to our historic building.
