Published 10 April 2026

14 Henrietta Street presents Teatime Talks a series of talks inspired by the history and people of 14 Henrietta Street. By listening and engaging with visitors, historians, experts, local people, former tenement residents and their families, we continue to uncover, record and respond to the 300 year story of 14 Henrietta Street.

Join Historian in Residence James Curry for a talk about the life of 20th century folklore collector, traditional musician and celebrated uilleann piper Séamus Ennis.

The uilleann pipes are a key part of the cultural heritage of Henrietta Street, and the story of Séamus Ennis is forever linked with the street through Na Píobairí Uilleann at number 15.

In this talk James will discuss Ennis’ childhood near Finglas, his travels around Ireland during the 1940s as a folklore collector, his time working for Radio Éireann and the BBC, and how he has been commemorated in Dublin since his passing over forty years ago.
