Teatime Talk: Paul O'Brien - In Conversation and Song

NewsTeatime Talks

Published 12 March 2025

14 Henrietta Street presents Teatime Talks, a series of talks inspired by the history and people of 14 Henrietta Street. By listening and engaging with visitors, historians, experts, local people, former tenement residents and their families, we continue to uncover, record and respond to the 300 year story of 14 Henrietta Street.

Join musician Paul O'Brien in conversation with Historian in Residence for Dublin Central Elizabeth Kehoe.

Step back in time and immerse yourself in the evocative world of Paul O’Brien, a singer-songwriter whose work vividly captures the spirit of Dublin's past. Born and raised in East Wall, once known as ‘The North Lotts,’ Paul’s deep connection to his roots shines through his music, bringing stories of dockside life, tenement communities, and the enduring spirit of the city to life.

Paul’s extensive repertoire of original songs is a heartfelt chronicle of life in 1960s and 70s Dublin. Through projects like Songs from the North Lotts, Port to Port, Dockers Corner, and To Paradise from Harmony Row, Paul masterfully weaves tales of family, neighbourhood, and community. Paul will discuss these songs and how Dublin has shaped his work.

When: 6 pm, Thursday March 13
