Training the Tour Guides : our new Making a Museum film
NewsStoriesPublished 20 March 2025

Making a Museum is our series of short films that take a look at some of the key aspects of how we made our museum so we can share with you how we tell stories, make connections and uncover history.
In our newest Making a Museum film, Training the Tour Guides, we look at the training process and what’s involved in becoming a tour guide at 14 Henrietta Street. You'll hear from the Guides themselves, Pat and Alice, and from Olivia, our Visitor Experience Manager and Tracey, our Engagement Coordinator who work closely with them.
You'll see our Tour Guide team members guiding visitors through the building, and watch as they hear from Ethel and Pauline, who are participating in our Your Tenement Memories programme.
How we tell the story of 14 Henrietta Street.
Making a Museum is a series of films that takes a look at some of the key historical research, conservation and restoration work that went into creating 14 Henrietta Street Museum. In each film we we see how each aspect of 14 Henrietta Street was created and get an insight from our historians, authors and tour guides about the visitor experience at the museum, and hear from our team about the many different ways we work to retell the stories of the humans who lived in the house over 300 years.
